  1. I'm stunned! This is an extraordinary piece of music. And, yes! It is very French!

  2. This is beautiful! Elegant, love the explanation behind it, so when I listen to it, I can "hear" the story the music is telling with the flutes.

  3. Robert, this was so kind of you. You made my day! I posted the link to my twitter and facebook and I'll put it on my other websites too. And guess what? I think the piece is delightful so I'll have to give it to some conductors to look at. May I ask how you do the recording? Is it computerized? It sounds too good to be computer generated but I can't imagine you found an orchestra on such short notice!

  4. Hi Nina,

So glad you liked it and I'n delighted I made your day.

No, the recording is done with real people. The recording sounds big, but the forces are quite small - flute (Leesa), piano (me) and 8 strings. I then doubled the strings in OD's so that the string section sounded bigger.

Good people to come in so early!

  7. Argh, I'm so jealous. And yet this is all very inspirational. I'm encouraging all my students to follow this blog as an example of a working, producing composer. Thank you for this trip.

  11. Robert,

Great to see a chamber work. Hey, go easy on the accordion - will yuh! I love the flute too, as you know. I'm delighted by the Impressionistic air of the piece. Nice doubling of the string section. It's amazing what a few hundred thousand dollars and a dream can do! This is your longest work yet. Nice time management to pull it off in 24 hours - bravo! Love the blog. What we do is a pretty lonely business. Projects like this make you feel that there are others as crazy as you. Well, maybe not as crazy as I am. But, perfect practice makes perfect (- ly bonkers!). Keep up the fine work.

    Best to all,

    Don
